Let there be light

The Union Station is so rich in history. If you ever have the chance to visit it - even for a few minutes - do it. The architecture is down right beautiful. There will certainly be more pictures to come.

As you've noticed, I've been favoring the black and white/sepia tone(s) in a few of my recent pictures. "Why," you ask? Simple. Sometimes colors can distract from the light or other subtle details in a picture. In this particular shot, I love the light that is cast through the windows onto the floor (exactly why I chose this angle) and the color in the photo detracted from it.

A good book

It's not so easy to just sit and enjoy a book when there is a lively toddler running around. What a peaceful way to spend an afternoon.

Gateway to the West

Alright Folks,

Where I was lacking in photos last week, I made up for it over the weekend. Our family went on a young adults' retreat to St. Louis with a group from church. We stayed at The Union Station - GORGEOUS! Most of what I'll post I'll have taken, but there may be a few that my dear hubby shot (with my editing eye).

If I post the same picture twice, it's because I'm looking for opinions on which one you like better...

Great Expectations

Well folks,

I had grand intentions in trying to post a "new" picture everyday. It looks as though that is simply too much of a commitment for me right now. So, I'll definitely be doing at least one a week. Anyhow, here is a pic that is over a year old. I quite simply don't have the time to scrounge up a new picture today. Though it is "old" it is one of my absolute favorites of our Bug. When I look at it, I see the rawness (is this a good word?) and innocence of a baby.

Our little book worm

At least once a day there is an eerie silence that fills our home. Every mother knows the feeling that comes with that silence - PANIC! When things are that quiet, there must be trouble (or a terrible mess) brewing. I am here to report that sometimes that silence can melt a mother's heart when she sees what her precious boy is up to. I tell no lie when I say that I regularly find Truett quietly "reading" through his books as shown above. I pray it sticks.

Sweet boy...

This past Sunday was my birthday and I woke up to a brand new tripod for the camera. I was also surprised with a new flash for an early birthday present a few weeks ago. Well here are a few photos I attempted to snap using my new toys. It took a few minutes to get my 17 m/o to cooperate. He was really distracted by the timer on the camera. Believe it or not, I didn't have to force him to hug my belly. He loves to "kiss the baby."

I'm playing around with different filters. Let me know what you think...please.

Filters? Or not?

Are we there yet?

I am so ready for the Holidays. I love everything about them: the food, the clothing, the candles, the smells, the weather, the lights. Best of all - this year, once the Holidays are here, that means Baby #2 is right around the corner!

Ole'

There is absolutely nothing special about this picture. I was going through our photo files and stumbled upon it. It was taken out our car window while driving down the middle of little ol' Manhattan, KS. These guys were obviously a bit intoxicated, but we couldn't resist getting a picture of a bunch of students being...well...students.
