Our little book worm

At least once a day there is an eerie silence that fills our home. Every mother knows the feeling that comes with that silence - PANIC! When things are that quiet, there must be trouble (or a terrible mess) brewing. I am here to report that sometimes that silence can melt a mother's heart when she sees what her precious boy is up to. I tell no lie when I say that I regularly find Truett quietly "reading" through his books as shown above. I pray it sticks.

Sweet boy...

This past Sunday was my birthday and I woke up to a brand new tripod for the camera. I was also surprised with a new flash for an early birthday present a few weeks ago. Well here are a few photos I attempted to snap using my new toys. It took a few minutes to get my 17 m/o to cooperate. He was really distracted by the timer on the camera. Believe it or not, I didn't have to force him to hug my belly. He loves to "kiss the baby."

I'm playing around with different filters. Let me know what you think...please.

Filters? Or not?

Are we there yet?

I am so ready for the Holidays. I love everything about them: the food, the clothing, the candles, the smells, the weather, the lights. Best of all - this year, once the Holidays are here, that means Baby #2 is right around the corner!

Ole'

There is absolutely nothing special about this picture. I was going through our photo files and stumbled upon it. It was taken out our car window while driving down the middle of little ol' Manhattan, KS. These guys were obviously a bit intoxicated, but we couldn't resist getting a picture of a bunch of students being...well...students.

Heirlooms

I'm not a very sentimental person when it comes to material items. However, my wedding ring means the world to me. Not only because it was given to me by my husband, but because of the story behind it. It belonged to Tyler's grandmother on his father's side. We're really not sure how old it is beyond that. If you'd like to read more about why this ring is absolutely irreplaceable, read our story here. That particular post is a few years old - but you'll get the gist of it.

Mountains will be moved

I think this pretty much sums up the first several months of mother-hood. I'm 16 months in and not much has changed. Even so, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

The beginning

One of my sisters just had a baby on Monday. I was lucky enough to capture their introduction.

Farmer Joe

I spent a few minutes this morning learning how to selectively colorize a photo. It's super easy and I can't believe I didn't figure this out sooner (or shall I say, Google it sooner).

Backyard captures cont.

Backyard captures

I was busy picking some cucumbers and tomatoes from our garden when Tyler pointed out a beautiful Monarch butterfly enjoying our flowers. It was gracious enough to stick around and let me capture a few "puzzle-worthy" pictures.

Here we go...

I was encouraged by a friend of mine to begin a photo-blog. I'm still not sure what that entails or even the point of it, but here we go.

Hopefully I'll be able to post at least one photo a day - there will probably be days that multiple photos are a must (like today). There are times that I simply can't make up my mind which ones I like best. I'll let all of you make that call.

I'm hoping for this to simply be a creative outlet as well as a place for feedback/critiques/encouragement (however you want to label it). More importantly, I'm hoping this doesn't become just another thing to keep up with; Little T has that covered.

Please feel free to leave plenty of comments - both good and bad. How will I ever grow without them both?
